Zenith Society for Socio-Legal Empowerment is a non-profit organisation working on grassroot legal empowerment of Adivasi, Dalit, and other marginalised communities in the state of Madhya Pradesh, India.
Zenith works with the community in order to build their capacity in understanding their legal rights, defining their ideas of change, and taking appropriate measures in order to live a more just and dignified life. Zenith is a registered society under the Madhya Pradesh Societies Registration Act, 1973.
Marginalized communities in India do not have access to justice delivery systems as they continue to be subjected to institutional and structural violence. Historical denial of rights often makes people unable to fathom a just society or even their own capabilities to be agents of change.
Zenith works towards legal empowerment of Adivasi, Dalit, and other marginalized groups focusing on the collective outcome envisioned by the community. Activating their agency to unlock the tools and processes with and beyond law and legal systems.
We equip community members and young people with an ecosystem of resources, skills and tools to identify and voice their struggles towards finding innovative justice solutions.
The heart of our vision lies in community empowerment and democratizing power.
Our Work is thus deliberately diverse. We work with people on issues they consider prominent from land, criminal justice, social security to the environment.
Zenith won the Agami Idea Prize in 2020 for their idea on reforming Clinical Legal Education.
